Richard
Allen Mc Mullen, 95, of Normal, died at 1:30 PM Saturday
October 25, 2008 at Heritage Manor in Normal.
He
was born September 29, 1913 in Hopedale to Fred A. and
Ethel Britton Mc Mullen. He first married Mildred
G. Maurer on January 4, 1941 in Bloomington and she died
July 8, 1988. He later married Anna Wheeler on
February 15, 1999 in Normal, and she survives. |
Also surviving are
three sons, Dr. Richard “Al” (Joan) Mc Mullen of Danvers, Dr.
Michael S. (Cathy) Mc Mullen of Fargo, ND, and Patrick J. Mc Mullen of
Boulder, CO; seven step children, Mark Humbert of Lincoln, Bob (Mary)
Humbert of Lincoln, Gary (Elaine) Humbert of Lincoln, John Humbert of
Springfield, Terri Wheeler of Lincoln, Donnie E. Wheeler of Lincoln, and
Randy Wheeler of Springfield; four grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren;
numerous step great grandchildren; two brothers, George (Eunice) Mc
Mullen of Tremont and Hugh (Marilyn) Mc Mullen of Hopedale.
He was preceded in
death by one brother, Harry and one step daughter, Kathy Prather.
Richard farmed for 42
years, 32 years of which were near Minier, retiring in 1973 following a
heart attack. He always claimed the best crop he ever raised was
his three sons. He and Mildred moved to Normal in 1976.
He was a member of
Stanford Presbyterian Church, where he served as Sunday school
superintendent for many years. He was 4-H Club leader in Stanford
for several years.
Cremation has been
accorded. A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM Friday November
28, 2008 at Davis Mortuary, Hopedale Chapel. Visitation will be
one hour before the service at the mortuary. Private burial of
ashes will be in Orendorff Cemetery rural Hopedale at a later
date.
Memorials may be made
to a charity of the donor’s choice.
