Verna W. Hallstein, 88, of Minier, IL, passed away at 12:25 am. Wednesday, January 25, 2012,at Hopedale Nursing Home.
She was born September 16, 1923 in Auburn, IL the daughter of John and Minnie Stuckemeyer Renken. She married Melvin J. Hallstein on September 15, 1946 in Chatham, IL. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2007. |
Survivors include, two sons, Dennis (Mickey) Hallstein of Minier, IL and David (Annie) Hallstein of Aiea, HI; one daughter, Pam (David) Flaherty of Ladd, IL; six grandchildren, Stacy (Jason) Bolen, Thad Hallstein, Nettie Cheeseman, Matt Hallstein, Dan (Kayla) Flaherty and Jon (Jill) Flaherty; five great grandchildren, Jackson, JP, Jenna, Alyssa and Sophie; two sisters, Dorothy Singley of Normal, IL, and Irma (Jim) Speeks of Springfield, IL; and three brothers, Leonard (Elta) Renken of Springfield, IL, Carl Renken of Auburn, IL and John H. (Florence) Renken of Tampa, FL.
Verna was a homemaker and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Minier.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 am. Monday, January 30, 2012 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 101 E. Garfield, Minier, IL. Rev. Frank Zimmerman will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 pm. Sunday, January 29, and from 10 to 10:30 am. Monday, both at the church. Burial will be in Minier Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Minier Rescue Squad.
