Catherine “Cathy” May Ford, 70, of Delavan, passed away at 11:30 AM Monday, August 23, 2010 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born June 3, 1940 in America, IL to John W. and Helen B. Black Frick. She married Jesse “Bob” Robert Ford on August 15, 1958 in Cairo, IL, and he passed away on November 6, 2009.
Surviving are one son, Stephen (Carla) Ford of Salisbury, MD; two daughters, Lisa Destiche of Jacksonville, NC and Cheryl (Jay) Hawkins of Delavan; 11 grandchildren, Dustin, Michael, David, Jesse, Alex, Asher, Stephen Thomas, Kayla, Brittany, Gracie, and Stevie; two great grandchildren, Morgan and Taryn Pollock; one brother, Charles Frick of Danville; one sister, Wilma Mammen of Delavan; brother and sister-in-laws, Bruce Ford of Olive Branch, IL, Linda Burrell Lazoen of Delavan, Roseanna Ford of Olive Branch, IL, Minnie Watts of Manito, and Peter Ford of Cape Girardeau, MO, all of whom she helped raise.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Robert “Bobby”.
Cathy was a homemaker and provided child care services for local families. She later cleaned several area homes and businesses.
She was a member of New Life Fellowship in Hopedale, formerly in Delavan. She taught Sunday school at Delavan Baptist Church for 12 years and was a member of its Circle of Love. She was a past member of the Junior Women’s Club in Delavan.
She enjoyed baking, sewing, making quilts, and the company of her grandchildren. She took great pleasure in the company of her friends and loved them dearly.
Her funeral will be at 10:00 AM Friday, August 27, 2010 at Davis Mortuary in Delavan. Pastor Michael Kalm will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Thursday also at the mortuary. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan.
